Storage of Equipment at Schools?
Students will have access to storage of their equipment at the Hounds, Moose and Kinplex facilities. Drop off times start at 8:00 am and pick must be before 3:30 pm. Equipment must be picked up everyday.
École Connaught School | 6:30 am to 6:30 pm (room #15)
CHHS | 24/7 access (Sea Can storage). Registers will be given location and access code.
Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre | 6:45 a. to 6:00 pm (room #106)
River Heights | 7:00 am to 4:00 pm (recess room)
Vincent Massey | 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (gym hallway)
Please contact your child's school to inquire about storage of equipment.
Sporting Equipment on the School Buses?
Bussing Home | Equipment WILL NOT be allowed on school buses transporting students to and from home. Equipment must be picked up and brought home every day.
Bussing Facility | Equipment will only be allowed for transport on buses to and from school, during the school day. We ask that all equipment be properly packed and secured to prevent any inconvenience to other students and ensure safety during in-day Academy transportation.
How to find the Training Facility?
Our indoor training facility is completed. The location is at 140 Maple Ave.
What is the Training Schedule?
76 Academy starts in September. On ice sessions will start the first week of October when facilities open. View the full training schedule here.
Facility Bussing Schedule?
Bussing to and from our Training Facility and On-Ice times change from day to day. You can view the Bus Schedule here, or contact your schools Principal for assistance.
Getting On and Off the ice?
15 minutes will be allocated at the start and end to manage gear. There are private washroom stalls at all facilities to allow space for putting on base layers if required.
On-Ice Time?
Over the course of the school year students will have 36 one hour sessions. At the following rinks: Hounds, Moose and Kinplex.
Training Facility Time?
Students will have access to the training facility for 45-60 minutes sessions weekly throughout the year.
Training Facility and Hockey Sticks?
NO TAPE - 76 Academy Training Facility is equipped with special flooring to simulate ice, each student is required to provide a hockey stick without tape on it (tape damages the special flooring) to leave at the Facility.
SECURED - The Training Facility is a locked and secured building with controlled access. Students are only permitted to use their own gear and are responsible for the care and maintenance of equipment.
76 Academy Apparel?
Each student will be provided a 76 Academy Jersey, the fee is included in registration.
There is a large variety of 76 Academy gear available to purchase (t-shirts, hoodies, hats, mugs, joggers and more), follow our social media accounts for when the shop opens and closes for orders check shop.
What is the Academy Discipline?
Students will follow the same expectations of their school discipline policy. At any time students can be removed from the academy.
Academy Instructors?
76 Academy employs numerous high level coaches, each with diverse experience in training, coaching and level of play. The program will be led by Ken Dzikowski. Ken brings years of experience as a classroom teacher, professional and collegiate hockey player and instructor of Find Your Stride Hockey School. View our instructor bios.
PD Day - Skill Camps and Tournaments
Skill Camps | We're bringing a new level of excellence to on ice skill development for hockey and ringette players. Skill sessions on PD Days. Players will build their confidence in power skating, stick handling, puck and ring skills, shooting, in game application drills. We will have a team of elite coaches to develop skills to help players reach the next level.
Tournaments | Put your skills to the test in these fun 3on3 tournaments. Teams are compiled by our experienced coaches and guided throughout the tournament. Build in game experience while competing for the Championship hats only available through these tournaments.
Registration | These PD Day events are not part of the 76 Academy Program and are open to all MHPSD students that meet the requirements of the set event. There is registration forms and an additional fee required to attend. Follow our social media accounts for first access to these PD Day events.
What is Concussion Testing?
Every 76 Academy register was given a baseline concussion testing from the experts at the Kinetic Center. If your child sustains a concussion during a game or practice, it is essential to seek a reassessment at the Kinetic Centre right away. Their team of experts will compare the post-injury results with your child’s baseline data to accurately assess the injury.
The Kinetic Center also offers comprehensive treatment options to help manage concussion symptoms. Their treatments are designed to address both the physical and cognitive symptoms of a concussion, promoting a full and healthy recovery.
What are we working on?
Our structured program is designed to enhance essential skills such as skating, stick handling, passing, shooting, positioning, and game strategies. Each monthly theme allows athletes of all levels to dive deep into specific areas, ensuring comprehensive skill development and mastery.
