We believe that students receive the best possible education when courses are supplemented with co-curricular activities. The International Student Program at the Medicine Hat Public School Division provides opportunities for motivated students from other countries to study regular academic subjects and receive intensive English language training. Our programs prepare students for university or college studies, entrance into the workforce, or recreational and travel pursuits.

Medicine Hat offers a vibrant and safe community packed with activities and attractions. Located just 40 minutes from an intermediate ski hill and four hours from Banff National Park, the city boasts numerous recreational facilities, including swimming pools, hockey rinks, soccer and baseball fields, a skateboard park, and extensive bike and walking trails. An excellent public bus transportation system ensures easy access throughout the city. Downtown features The Esplanade (a 700-seat performing arts center, an art gallery, and a museum), a modern library, and a unique city hall and historic buildings. Additionally, Medicine Hat is home to the iconic Saamis Tepee and the historic Medalta Clay Industries district. With more sunlight hours than any other Canadian city, the average July temperature reaches 28°C, while December averages around -2°C, and the low humidity makes both summer and winter more comfortable. Winters are further warmed by the Chinook winds. No matter the season, there is endless activities.

Medicine Hat Public Schools provide excellence in academics with state-of-the-art science centers, new theatre spaces, fitness centers, computer labs and modern fine art facilities. Offering a wide variety of courses including: core, sports, fine arts, career and technology studies, second languages and tons more. English as an Additional Language (EAL)? Students can access EAL classes both semesters if required and can receive individual assistance with their regular courses on a daily basis. • Medicine Hat High School (MHHS) grades 10 through 12. • Crescent Heights High School (CHHS) grades 7 through 12. • Alexandra Middle School grades 7 through 9. • Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre grades K through 9. Post-Secondary School Opportunities: Medicine Hat College can be easily accessed after high school and offers two-year diploma programs, three-year applied degrees and numerous four-year bachelor degree programs. University transfers from Medicine Hat College is recognized by all six Alberta universities and almost all Canadian universities.
