Medicine Hat News Article: 'Elm Street School replacement among upcoming plans for MHPSD'

We want to address a recent inaccuracy in a Medicine Hat News article about our 2025-2028 Capital Plan. The capital plan is a wish list that is approved by the board annually; the 2025-2028 plan outlines potential projects like the replacement of Elm Street School, modernization of Alexandra Middle School, and a new elementary school in the Hamptons.

The 2025-2028 capital plan was submitted to Alberta education in the Spring and we have not received any confirmation about this submission. The above mentioned potential projects have not been approved. The topic of capital project came up because the highlights are shared as part our 2023-2024 Annual Education Results Report, which was shared with the Board on Nov 26.

We regret that our capital plan was misunderstood and will provide public updates if any changes to MHPSD are confirmed.
