Board of Trustees begins Superintendent Search
(Medicine Hat, AB) – The Board of Trustees for Medicine Hat Public School Division (MHPSD) is pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive search process to identify and select a new superintendent to lead the division.
“We are committed to student success and fostering a thriving learning environment,” said Catherine Wilson, Board Chair. Trustees have begun a comprehensive stakeholder consultation process, to ensure the new superintendent possesses qualities that meet the needs and priorities of our community.
“This search process will be guided by extensive stakeholder consultation to ensure we find a leader who reflects the needs and aspirations of our dedicated staff, students, and families,” said Wilson.
Over the coming month, trustees will seek input from a diverse range of stakeholders who have been invited to engage in a consultation process:
- Executive leadership team
- Principals and Vice Principals
- Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA)
- MHPSD Teachers
- Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)
- Non-unionized staff
- Division Council of School Councils
- Student Senate
Any stakeholder who has not been invited to a consultation session is welcome to offer their feedback to a representative from the groups listed above. The feedback gathered through the engagement process will play a vital role in shaping the candidate profile and ultimately guiding the Board of Trustees to select the most suitable leader.
During this transition period, the division will continue to be led by Acting Superintendent Tracy Hensel. “We are confident that under Tracy’s guidance, the division will maintain its high standards of excellence and service to students and community,” said Wilson.
The goal of this search process is to announce a new superintendent by April 2025 and the Board will share an update once a successful candidate has been appointed.
